Mrs Ibbotson has recently been nominated for her use of IT in classes even though she considers herself a ‘beginner’. She is ‘very flattered to be nominated’ and was delighted to receive the nomination news.

During the lockdown she described moving to online teaching from traditional teaching to be highly ‘daunting initially’. However she has persevered and she has said that she ‘was given some very helpful guidance in the use of the Google Drive and having got the hang of folders, and folders within folders’ and she has proven her new skills in her classes.

The nomination the team at TECHNOPOLIS received makes specific reference to the excellent way that Mrs Ibbotson has shared Google Meet codes, transferred her lessons online and coped with the switch from school learning, to home learning and then onto hybrid learning.

In Mrs Ibbotson’s classes she has uploaded documents and pdfs and has been able to share them with students which is a very new thing for her but she was able to accomplish it. She described her experience and how she utilised the tools: ‘Together with a visualiser, pens, mini whiteboards and, most importantly, some very patient and supportive students, I adapted to Guided Home Learning.’

We salute you Mrs Ibbotson and your committment to improving your maths lessons!
